New Plastic & Composite Fencing Ranges now in Stock

We are proud to announce the introduction of a new stock  line into our Plastic & Composite fencing Panel range we now offer an even wider range of plastic fencing systems designed we have now further expanded consumer choice by adding a premium composite fencing collection.

Composite Fencing

Formed using a unique blend of wood polymer & PVC, our premium composite fencing offers a natural matte texture giving a more mellow rustic appearance. The new range is available in three colours –  grey, brown and sand.

The colour of the wood polymer composite ‘evolves’ within the first few weeks of exposure to daylight, before settling to its final effect. The brown and grey colours develop to a softer shade, while the olive lightens to a more sandy appearance.

Environmental Credentials

The wood fibres used in our composite fencing are produced from recycled materials in the form of products such as old PVCu windows this results in an environmentally friendly fencing system. The density of our composite fencing means that it is strong enough to stand up to the elements for many years while remaining durable & lightweight.

Our composite fencing can be used with existing concrete or timber posts, it’s hard wearing and tough, there’s no risk of splinters and it’s maintenance free, requiring no painting or staining.

Wide range of plastic fencing

PVC Fencing

We now offer one of the widest ranges of plastic / composite fencing systems in the UK, with 10 unique finishes at three different price points.

Trex Decking the New Ranges 2019

Trex are the worlds largest manufacturer of timber alternative decking products, they have been producing composite decking since 1996. This year they have introduced a number of new products into their portfolio.

So whats new to Trex

Trex Decking

In the past Trex have always been considered to be a high end composite decking manufacturer supplying only the Transcend range.  However this year things have changed with the introduction of the Trex Basics and Trex Naturals Ranges.

So whats New in the Trex Range

Lets look at the differences in board design

Trex Clam Shell Basic

Firstly the most significant difference is the price, the introduction of the basics range now means that customers who were once priced out of the Trex Transcend range are now able to find a decent quality alternative in the Trex basics range.

The difference to the customer is significant to give you an idea I have based it on a 4.8 Metre Length  –

Trex Transcend – Trex Basic - £17.00 Per Length + Vat Difference.

So why is this product cheaper

Board has less volume

The most noticeable difference is the volume of the board. The new Trex boards have a corrugated design this has allowed Trex to reduced the amount of materials used to manufacture the composite decking board.

However take note as this now means that the new ranges must to be installed on base timbers that are closer together (350 Millimetre ).

Hardness of the surface

We have installed a number of Trex decking displays at our Composite Decking display centre and I have noticed that the surface on the new Trex Basics range isn’t as hard as the Transcend Range. It is however more than up to the job.

Colour Ranges are limited

In the Trex basics range there are only two single tone colours so you don’t have the range to choose from and the shades that are available are quite basic ( Hence the name I guess ).

Single colour tone

In the transcend range the boards are made with a number of different colours and features running through them however the basics boards are one single colour making them not quite as unique to look at.

Our opinion of Trex Basics Range

When all is said and done the new cheaper ranges that Trex have introduced are really good, we have had great feedback from our customers and it is apparhent that it will out perform similar composite decking that is currently available within the UK.

Trex Wood products

Whats new in 2019

With summer fast approaching we have been inundated with suppliers and their representatives calling in to our depot showing us innovative new products that will be available for sale in 2019.

One of the products that I am going to focus on for the purpose of this article is the new Trex Basic Saddle colour of composite decking board.

So What is Trex plastic wood

To put it in a nut shell Trex Wooden composite decking is a decking board that uses 95% recycled materials to produce. It is a synthetic wood effect board that is designed as a low maintenance alternative to wooden decking.

Historically Trex wood decking has always been considered to be a premium grade high end composite deck board however it seems this year things are about to change.

Trex Enhance Basics

This change has taken place with the introduction of a new range of Trex wood colours, it has been branded as TREX ENHANCE BASICS and will be sold as a lower cost alternative to the Trex Transcend range and Trex Enhance Natural Ranges.

Why is Trex Basics cheaper

The board does have a reduced specification with a softer outer shell and reduced volume however on the whole it still looks like a really high quality cost effective alternative to the Trex transcend range. At just over half the price I think that you will agree this invites far more people to the table when it comes to purchasing a Trex wood deck.

As it stands

The downside is that there are only two Trex plastic decking designs in this range however we are pretty sure that it wont be long before we start to see more of these Trex plastic lumber boards introduced. This product will not be available for distribution in the UK until early to Mid March so watch this space

Fencing Designs

Fencing Trends 2018

With the end of 2018 approaching fast it is always a worth while exercise having a look at which fencing panels and fencing designs have been popular throughout the season, so what has happened this year ?. Is it just the same old boring designs or are customers starting to think outside the box.

FencingFence

Bespoke Fencing Panel Designs

Something that i have noticed happening more and more this year is that the fencing companies are starting to design their own fencing panels as per the customers specification. Cedar along with tanalised planed timber is being used to manufacture horizontal wooden fence panels and it looks really good ( See below ).

This fence has been designed using 2 x 1 smooth finish tanalised timber. ( Tanalised timber is a term that is used to describe timber that has been pressure treated impregnated ). The work was carried out by Martin and the boys at Dekit. ( Give us a call if you require their details ).

Jasmin Decorative Fence Panel

This panel has become very popular this year with customers looking for something a bit different. The only problem with using Jasmin fence panels with a more intricate design is that they are a bit more complicated to cut down especially if you only need half a panel at the end of a run. However they are beautiful.

Garden FencingFencing Panel

Plastic Fencing Panels

This year we have also seen a slight increase in sales of Plastic and PVC Fencing. A number of customers are considering plastic as an alternative to the more traditional wooden fencing panels. Plastic panels will reduce the maintenance to virtually nothing except for a light clean once a year and again they look fantastic. The only downside with plastic fencing is that the colours and finishes are limited and also they are a lot more expensive.

Composite Decking Part 2

Composite Decking explained

If you have been researching plastic and composite decking you will be aware that there are a vast array of styles and finishes to choose from, all of which have their own unique set of characteristics and decking board finishes. In the first article the focus was on the hollow composite decking and the Trex Transcend decking board.

In this article we will look at the PVC Decking board and the Millboard deck board.

PVC Decking

Composite Decking

PVC Decking is a good alternative to old fashioned hollow composite decking. So why use PVC Decking ?

  • The main advantage of PVC Decking is that the expansion and contraction is far less than with the majority of hollow composite decking boards. There is nothing worse than walking on a composite deck that has 10mm gaps on the end join this looks unsightly and can also act as a dirt catcher.
  • PVC decking is Non Slip certified.
  • PVC Decking is generally class 1 fire rated.

Price

PVC Decking price can range any where from £48 per Metre Square to £66 per Metre square. ( Inc Vat )

Wide Plank PVC Decking board

Composite DeckPVC Decking

In the past Wide Pank PVC Decking boards have been used primarily on Caravan Parks and trailer homes, this is however starting to change with tha manufacturers beginning to introduce styles and finishes more suited to the domestic Market. This brand of Plastic Decking is produced using a high percentage of recycled material and comes with a full BS standard slip rating.

Price £54 per Square Metre. ( Inc Vat )

Millboard Decking

This product is a Premium decking board it is aesthetically on par with the Trex decking board that we have highlighted in previous articles. This board hosts a number of unique characteristics and offers an amazingly realistic alternative to wooden decking.

What makes millboard Special

  • Millboard composite decking looks like real wood
  • Millboard composite is soft under foot when walked on.
  • It is available in ten seperate finishes.
  • Millboard is fully anti-slip

Price

Millboard is by far the most expensive of the composite or wooden decking alternatives with the price coming in at an eye watering £96 Per Square Metre. ( Inc Vat ). This product must be seen to be fully appreciated.
