New Fencing for 2017
In the past our ethos as a Timber merchant has always been based around supplying high quality timber products, however we have decided to look outside the box to try and meet the wants and needs of the customer. With this in mind we have found that a number of our customers are asking for low maintenance alternatives to wooden fencing Panels.
So why are consumer habits changing
- One of the reasons we feel is down to the fact that the population in Britain is increasing in age, there are a lot more people of retirement age and older who are unable to or basically don’t want to have to maintain their traditional wooden fencing panels, so they are looking for an alternative.
- Consumers no longer enjoy a day in the garden treating their fencing panels ( I know that I don’t ).
- Our climate is warm and wet and therefore makes constant maintenance of Wooden panels difficult to plan.
- The introduction of aesthetically pleasing alternatives to wooden fencing has meant that Vinyl or PVC Fencing is more desirable.
So does that mean that wooden fencing is it going to be a thing of the past ?
The answer to this question is quite simply “ No “. We predict that our sales of wooden fencing products will remain the same even with the introduction of Plastic & Vinyl Fencing alternatives. Short to long term we don’t see sales of wooden fencing falling. This will be mainly down to four key factors.
- Plastic fence panels generally work out a lot more expensive than wooden fencing Panels.
- Plastic fencing isn’t as diverse and therefore is limited in its applications.
- Aesthetically people will always prefer wooden fencing to PVC Fencing.
- The choice of designs is not available in the PVC fencing ranges.
Nevertheless for the customer who is looking for an alternative to timber Plastic or Vinyl fencing is a great alternative.
